Program Note
Little Chamber Concerto is a vehicle for the six musicians to each display their powers of expression and virtuosity.
I wrote the first movement, “My Soul Wrought Bare” during my 97-year-old grandfather’s last week of life. It is both a lament and celebration of life. I wrote the second movement, “Sometimes The World Moves Too Fast” in early 2025, a period in which it felt like the world was changing at an alarming rate. As such, the music is at times menacing, magnificent, militant, manic–and always relentlessly fast.
