Description
Yatter is a bold, rhythm-driven choral work that bursts with energy and momentum.Set to a quirky, sound-focused poem by Canadian poet Adele Graf, the piece fuses vibrant vocal writing with body percussion to create a kinetic performance.
Available for mixed choir or treble choir, Yatter is designed for experienced ensembles seeking a rewarding challenge. The score includes three flexible percussion parts that may be used in any combination, or omitted entirely, allowing directors to tailor the work to their resources. Choral parts are also provided to minimize page turns while singers perform body percussion.
At approximately five minutes, Yatter makes a high-impact opener or closer, showcasing rhythmic precision, ensemble coordination, and textual play.
Lyrics by Adele Graf
(sign on a fence –
win a cake
whack a pińata)
kin awake
pack what ya oughta
yah, wake a yawner
pin her if ya gotta
yak yak, you're yin
to your yang daughter
one cracked wacky yap
yadda yadda yadda
opaque patter
